As the duo Mignarda, Ron & Donna - now in their 21st season together - are internationally renowned for programs illuminating the vibrant mingling of renaissance music and poetry, sacred and secular. As Eulalie, they create a different kind of magic through old-time hymnody, ballads, and laments: songs of hard times, hard luck, true love, and spiritual redemption. Echoing through hills and hollows from cabin stoops and country churches, many of these songs started out as hymns or parlor songs and shook off the starch, picking up life and grit on the journey from parlor to the backwoods. Ron & Donna treat these treasures with the love and respect of honest, straightforward arrangements inspired by the old masters. Hauntingly stark, sweetly sentimental, or just plain fun, these old songs tell the stories of people's lives.
